The Greater Harvest C.O.G.I.C. in Reno,
Nevada was founded in 1966 by Pastor John
Wynn’s Father the Late Reverend Willie J.
Wynn. The original name of the church was
Faith Deliverance C.O.G.I.C.
Pastor John Wynn was appointed as pastor of
the of the church in December 2000 and then
appointed as the District Superintendent of
the Greater Northern Nevada District in
January 2001.

The Late Rev.
W.J. Wynn was born in August 1937 and
departed his life in July 1985. He was the
1st Administrative Assistant to Bishop E.N.
Webb, the Prelate of Nevada. He was also
the former District Superintendent of the
Northern Nevada District.
Rev. Willie Wynn received an honorary
Doctorate of Divinity. His life touched
many people of all walks of life. He knew
no color barriers, he surmounted every
stumbling block and made them into stepping
stones.
Every trial Rev. Wynn encountered, he made
into a challenge. Rev. Wynn was very seldom
without a smile or kind word. He was a man
of God.
Rev. Wynn’s served as the first Black
Cabinet Member in the State of
Nevada—appointed by Governor Paul Laxalt;
Consumers Advisory Panel; Community Service
Board; Reno Housing Authority; Nevada Equal
Rights Commissioner— appointed by Governor
Richard Bryan; and numerous other advisory
boards.
